Recommendations for Best
Operation
Run the Air Inlet hose to the outside of the bait tank and well
above the waterline inside the tank. This will pull in fresh air from the
outside and will prevent water from siphoning from the tank when the pump is not
running.
Venturi work very well for bait tanks when used appropriately. They are somewhat
finicky and work best when they are installed close to where the water dumps
back into the tank. The further from the exit point and the more fittings,
valves, etc. between the venturi and the exit, the less efficient they operate.
At a certain point, when there is a lot of back pressure from the fittings, etc.
downstream, they will cease to pull in air through the air inlet tube and blow
water out instead.
If possible, discharge from the venturi should be plumbed in the sidewall of the
tank as close as conveniently possible to the bottom. There the bubbles will
have more water column to travel up and through allowing them to give up their
oxygen more efficiently.
